Dentures - What are they?
Dentures are removable replacements for missing/removed teeth. They are normally created from an acrylic resin with plastic or porcelain denture teeth. Complete Dentures and Partial Dentures are the two different types of dentures. These dentures are custom designed and crafted to fit your specific needs. Dentures can help strengthen muscles working with your facial expressions that require the support of your teeth, and aid with chewing.

Implants - What Are They

Implants are an artificial tooth root replacement. An implant can be used to hold a crown, partial denture or a full denture. The most common use is to retain the lower denture as they are very hard to keep in place.

Wendi Barrows Testimonial *My teeth were a mess! Twenty years of drinking soda daily had given me a condition known as “Mountain Dew Mouth.” Every tooth I had was rotten and some were even broken. I hid my smile all my life. Even before my teeth went bad, I had large sized teeth, and an overbite. As one can imagine, I have never flashed a confident smile in the entire 48 years of my life. * *Having to have all of my teeth pulled, I went to see Doctor Logan at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Center of Oregon. Doctor Logan and his staff told me that when I was ready to get dentures, to go see David Dahl. They insisted he was the best in the valley. * *Six years went by (toothless) before I was financially ready to get dentures. I remembered who had been recommended, but I really wanted to do my own research and make sure I was going to the best in the Valley. My weeks of research directed me right through all the denturists from Ashland to Grants Pass straight back to the one denturist that was recommended to begin with: David Dahl. From the get go, David Dahl was fantastic. He looked at my mouth, took photos of everything, explained the process, and answered all of my millions of questions. He explained to me that due to the lack of gum structure left to work with on the bottom, he strongly recommended dental implants, explaining that he would make a traditional lower denture for me if I really wanted to go that route but that I would be swimming in denture adhesive hell for the rest of my days. I agreed, as Doctor Logan had explained that the deterioration to my teeth went so deep that he had to shave my lower jawbone when he extracted all my teeth just to make it even. The decay had worked all the way down to the bone. So, back to Doc Logan I went. Two Titanium rods were implanted, and I was told that I needed to let those heal for a good 3 months before David Dahl would see me again. He wanted to make sure the rods had fully grafted to the bone. Once that was done, a flurry of appointments with David Dahl were made. With each appointment, thru the creation process, David documented everything, and answered any questions and explained everything in detail. Once my dentures were done and placed in my mouth for the first time, David had me look in the mirror. I broke into the biggest smile ever and tears of sheer joy ran down my face. My smile, for the first time in my life, was perfect and beautiful! David Dahl gave me some final instructions on care and cleaning, we went over how to take the dentures out and put them in, and home I went, giggling like a loon, and grinning from ear to ear. David called me later that day, just to make sure I was happy and everything fit right ~ no pain, soreness, etc. I explained that I had spent the day between grinning from ear to ear, and crying out of sheer joy to notice, but would get back to him in a day or two if I noticed anything I didn’t like. My dentures fit like a glove, and everyone who has seen me tells me how fantastic they look. More often than not, I get: “Wow! Those look so natural! They don’t even look like dentures!” I even had a complete stranger approach me in the store one day and tell me I had the most beautiful and vibrant smile she had seen in a long time. I thanked her, didn’t tell her the secret that they were false teeth, and it was all I could do to get out of the store before shedding tears of joy. Everyone has commented on not only how fantastic I look, but how much my self-confidence has increased. Oh ya, and being able to eat crunchy food again is sheer heaven too! Thank You, David Dahl, for giving me the perfect smile, and making me so incredibly happy. You are truly a dental artist, and with your 30 + years of knowledge in your craft, it shows! I can’t sing your praises enough, or thank you enough for what you have done for me. I am so grateful. David Dahl ~ the man who makes me smile. Go see him. He will make you smile too! * *Much respect, and gratitude, -- Wendi Barrows
Dear Dave, First off, I owe you a heartfelt apology for not getting this done more promptly after the holidays. I have all sorts of excuses, but none are worthy of all the good work you have done for us. I am so sorry for being so tardy in getting this critique of your terrific work to you. But, although late, here it is. I have been married to Dr. Robert F. Fry for over thirty four years, so have heard all the nightmare stories regarding dental implants and the "horrible" outcome of this procedure. However, as time marches on and one becomes a candidate for hearing aids, glasses, dentures, blah blah blah, you know the progression, we found that both, my husband and I were truly awful candidates for dentures. No lower bone ridge caused our lower dentures to constantly travel around, causing VERY painful sore spots, plus the use of globs of denture adhesive, which oozed out along with the denture. Having ones teeth crossways over dinner in a nice restaurant might have been funny to others, but our sense of humor definitely failed us at that moment. Sooo, Bob mentioned that since be had retired, that new implant procedures might have come into existence, and that we should check it out. My husband had always made tile comment that Dave Dahl, a Medford Demurest, could more accurately be described as an artist at his work and that we should see him for an honest opinion. He, my husband, didn't really feel too encouraged that we were good candidates fur this procedure. After seeing Dave, we began to have hope that we might be able to eat out and not worry about chasing our lower teeth around our dinner plates. Well we then, on Dave's advice, saw Dr. Bruce Logan, Oral Surgeon, of Medford and thus began a great partnership on the way to having a lower denture that STAYS IN PLACE........ Dave and Dr. Logan worked in conjunction on this procedure, with Dr. Logan doing the surgical implant of the permanent posts and Dave building the denture to ultimately go into place after the healing process. In the entire procedure, there was very little pain, really no pain, but simply minor discomfort. Since my husband had I now have lower implants, we have enjoyed all the foods we had missed for so long. These two professionals deserve more than our thanks and respect and we highly recommend them to anyone having problems with dentures. We have spoken with others who have had implant procedures that were advertised to be complete in very short periods of time, but were not as successful in the long term. Ours have been in place for the past 4 years without any problems. I can't think of a better reason to trust Western Denture and Dr. Bruce Logan to give their very honest opinion regarding imp1ant procedure. My husband had known for years that these were honest professionals who took extreme pride in the quality of their work. Again, thank you Dave and Dr. Logan for ·your good work. Respectfully, Robert F. Fry, D.M.D Sandra R, Fry P. O. Box 78 Eag1e Point, Oregon 97524 Subject: Craig Portwood testimonial. Once I had made the decision to have dentures made, I gave great thought to choosing the right denturist. I decided upon Dave Dahl at Western Denture Center and I am glad I did. Dave has been practicing his craft for more than 30 years and uses the latest techniques and technology to ensure your dentures will fit well, feel comfortable, and look great.

There are a number of steps involved in the making of dentures. Great care must be exercised during each phase of the process to insure proper fit and alignment. Castings must be made from which the structure of the denture will be created. Jaw movement must be traced and graphed to insure proper function and positioning. Since each individual’s mouth is unique, the denturist must have the knowledge to recognize which technique is recommended to achieve the best result. Dave Dahl has the knowledge of the latest methods and the skill to use them effectively.

Once my dentures were finished, Dave gave me instructions as to how to care for them, and what I should do to become accustomed to them. He contacted me within a few days after I began wearing them to see if I had any problems. I did – the dentures began to wear against a bony prominence of my lower gums. Dave told me this was to be expected and made a minor adjustment to the fitting. They have fit and felt fine ever since.

One concern I had about getting dentures was the cost. Not only was affordability important to me, but I wanted to make certain that the money was well spent. Few things are worse than finding out that saving a few dollars in the short term meant problems in the long term. Getting dentures is a long term investment in one’s self, and few investments have better returns that a nice smile. Not only were my dentures top quality, but their affordability gave me one more thing to smile about. In addition, Dave has a very friendly, gentile manner which underscores his personal commitment to provide the best service possible. Like Dave, his assistant Trish is also friendly and personable. Together, they made the process pleasant and painless.

If you or anyone you know is considering getting dentures, I highly recommend that you contact Western Denture Center today for a free consultation. You have nothing to lose and a healthier mouth and better appearance to gain.

Our denturist is the best person we have ever gotten dentures from. He does such wonderful work that people can't tell we wear dentures. And his office is such a great place to visit. We have recommended him to our friends, and as long as we live here, he's the one we're going to see for our denture needs. Subject: Vonciel Russell testimonial I dealt with a set of poorly made, ill fitting dentures for over six years. My mouth was constantly sore. My jaw felt as if it was out of alignment and would pop and ache. It was difficult to chew food so I was always still eating after family and friends were finished with the meal. I had to use denture adhesive products that oozed from under my dentures and always gave way in the middle of a meal. Each time I ate, food would accumulate under my dentures and cause discomfort and/or pain. This was embarrassing when I was at a nice restaurant with family and /or friends. The last straw was when my upper denture broke in half and I had to do emergency repair with "Super Glue". Needless to say I have had enough! Upper denture repairs for two teeth that fell off/out. Chipped front tooth and now the denture broke in half. Several relines on the lower denture and is still did not fit. I went in search of a denture lab that could make me a new and correct set of dentures. I found Western Denture Center and made an appointment. I met Mr. Dave Dahl for an exam and consult. We discussed my problems and the loss of bone that I have with my lower jaw. Dave informed me of dental implants, explained the process, procedures and showed me an example. He gave me an estimate of the cost. I was ready to proceed and the process began. Dave set up the appointment with Dr. Logan, who did the implants and all went well. I now have my new lower denture that snaps onto my two implants and it fits snug and secure in my mouth. I now have my new upper denture and it fits correctly and secure. My jaw and my bite feel correct and my jaw no longer aches. I can chew my food and I no longer need to use denture adhesive. My new dentures are very well made and I feel confident and trouble free. Dave provides excellent follow-up along with Dr. Logan. My new teeth/dentures are awesome! Sincerely, Vonciel Russell Subject: Kim Stowe testimonial I have had dentures for 53 years, the last ten years I havent been able to chew salads with carrots or cabbage, or tough beef or chicken as my lowers wouldn’t say in place. Apporox three years ago my sister-in-law told me that Dave Dahl at western dentures was a good denturist, to go see him, so I did and he told me that it would be useless to make me dentures until I had implants in my lower jaw. He sent me to Dr. Bruce Logan (exceptional place and crew) they installed two implants in my lower jaw, then Dave made me a new set of dentures, now I can enjoy salads with celery, carrots, cabbage, and steak, things I could not even eat before, It is like having a new life. GO SEE DAVE!! ----Kim Stowe—“thanks Dave” Subject: Charlene testimonial Dear Dave, I want to thank you for returning my smile. You are truly an artist. My denture fits like a glove. I hope you had a wonderful vacation. Here's smiling at you. Thank you, Charlene Subject: Sam & Herlinda McCauley testo, pmial Our denturist is the best person we have ever gotten dentures from. Sam & Herlinda McCauley Subject: Yates testimonial When I first met Dave, I felt like he was an old friend, very cordial, yet professional. With his knowledge and modern equipment, he involved me in making the denture look natural and made them nearly unbreakable. I have had tons of complements on how natural they look. Lady friends have said, "Gosh, you have beautiful teeth." The teeth fit like a tailor made glove. They stay in place so nicely that I can now whistle at the girls without blowing my teeth out. My smile has improved greatly. Rowdy Yates Subject: Linda Bresette testimonial Doctor Dave, Sorry it took me so long to thank you so very much for my beautiful teeth.
